Lari Lue B. Svendson
Summary of Qualifications:
Landscape Architect - 35 years (1975 - present) Experience in plant
material, design, construction, irrigation and environmental areas of
landscape architecture.
Twenty five years experience in southern Louisiana and eight years
experience with desert conditions of the Middle East. Places of employment
include; nurseries, municipality, general contractors, landscape contractor,
consultant for landscape design to an irrigation engineer and self-employed.
Practical experiences include design, purchasing, sales, management, and crew supervision.
Education: Louisiana State University - Bachelor of Landscape Architecture /
School of Environmental Design.
Passed the State licensing test for
Landscape and Architecture in the summer of 1980. License issued December 3,
1980.
Specific Work Experience:
2004 - present
Self employed drawing landscape architectural plans and painting at her
studio in her home in Lafayette, Louisiana.
1988 - 2004
Manager of the landscape department of chief landscape architect for
Marshall's Nursery, a large landscape contractor in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Duties: Responsibilities include sales, design and supervision of job
installation. General management of the landscape department and supervision
of three crews.
Landscape Architect for Lafayette's "GATEWAY". A new 100 acre tourist and
part center at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Interstate 49.
Responsible for design and supervision of a volunteer program for the
purchasing and installation of plant material. Member of the steering
committee for the project during 1988 - 1990. Member of the "GATEWAY"
Foundation.
1985 - 1988
Landscape Architect for Mohammed Al Hazeem, an individual in Dubai, United
Arab Emirates.
Duties: Design and supervision for his palace grounds of 10 acres. The
design included formal gardens, informal gardens with waterfall features,
desert garden areas and a Japanese garden. Also included were streams,
walkways, bridges, outdoor lighting and irrigation.
1983 - 1985
Landscape Architect for Candilis-Gredeco, a Greek architectural and
engineering firm with an office in Dubai.
Duties: Supervision of the landscaping work for a Dubai municipality
contract (Al Maktoum Road Service drainage contract).
1981 - 1983
Chief Landscape Architect for the Town Planning Department of the Dubai
Municipality in the United Arab Emirates.
Duties: General management of the department and personnel. Projects
included the design of the city park system with detailed designs of the
individual parks, landscape schemes for low cost housing, design and
supervision of installation for private villa's and palaces belonging to the
royal family. Project manager for the "Trade Center Round-a-bout"
project. Upon resignation, was requested to the interview and hire replacement.
1975 - 1981
Chief Landscape Architect for Lafayette Nursery Sales.
Duties: Responsibilities included design, supervision of three crews, a
sales team of two landscape architects and three draftsmen. Projects
included landscape designs for shopping malls, city banks, schools,
restaurants, oil companies, general businesses and many private residences.
1973 (Summer)
Student Landscape Architect for the National Forest Service in Laramie,Wyoming.
Projects included the design of a ski resort and design of timber cuts. Environmental impact studies were conducted on most projects.
